As a child, I had all kinds of ways to show my creativity. There were those encouraged by my parents like coloring, water painting, sketching with pencil and coloring with colored pencils and writing letters to people, usually as thank you letters. It was something most kids did to express themselves and most of us enjoyed that sort of thing.

Then there was the activities where a teacher or teachers developed a project and you had to create something with paper machete, colored paper, staples and glue. It might end up as part of a school play as a background or it could even be big enough to use like a costume you could slide yourself into. It all depended on the purpose of the project.

I always found these kind of activities to be a lot of fun. It got my imagination roaring and flying in all directions. I really think this is so important to let kids know just how capable they really are and give them that sense there are no boundaries they cannot conquer. Some children found it very difficult and I suspect they were the ones who had parents that expected perfection or who did not encourage creativity at home.

Then as I got older, I joined guides and other organizations where crafting took the spotlight. The amazing things we could make stayed with me all my life. It was then I knew with a bit of research, I could fix just about anything or change something to a more desirable form or make it function differently. That meant to me that there were endless combinations of results, all wonderful and equally worth while.

All of that helped my creative mind to flourish. The e-books and other books I create today are a result. I encourage you to help your kids to find their potential too.
