Why We All Need Fantasy
I add fantasy or magic to many of my e-books. I explain why and what it does for us as humans.
Fantasy or magic has a profound impact on as as humans. We reconnect with the wonder of living, all the things that we take for granted. Those things when seen through wonder-filled eyes take on a special significance. Suddenly we experience awe and feel the desire to explore and learn more. There is a sense of adventure that is evident now and we are aware that we need to enjoy living.
When kids are growing up, every thing they feel and see is new to them. So it is natural that during that process they experience wonder and want to learn more too. As we get older, we forget about that obsession with the meaning behind occurrences. We have turned a bit jaded and feel like we have been there and done that.
Having kids allows us to access that reality they see again. This is when we start re-evaluating our world again and we look into taking courses to learn new things, or traveling or learning a new language. Our horizons are endless suddenly. With that shift in perspective, we have opened up new possibilities.
Sometimes we live vicariously through our kids when they take on new experiences. But what we are really looking for is a little spice, a magical belief system that will make us energized again. Rather than living through our kids, we should take on that joy ourselves and find fascinating ways to make our lives richer and filled with new possibilities.
Sharing that joy with kids is so important to me as an adult. A little fun in fantasy makes me appreciate being older and gives me new perspectives too. That is something parent and child can share in my e-books.
